Feast of St Ignatius

On July 31, our community celebrated the Feast of St Ignatius, founder of the Society of Jesus and Patron of our Community, together with our friends and the local community.

This year’s celebration also served as a moment of thanksgiving for Fr José Maria Abrego, who ends his term as superior of the community, and now returns to his native Pamplona in Spain, after many years at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and Jerusalem.

Mass was presided over by Fr David Neuhaus, as he starts his term as superior of the Jesuit community in the Holy Land, and was concelebrated by several members of the Jesuit community, and many of our friends from other religious congregations and the diocese. The Jesuit scholastics — ending their July programme — led the congregation with their singing.

As is our annual tradition, Mass was followed by a festive meal in our garden.
